Building Trust Across Global Markets Since 1988
Global Leader in Castor Oil & Derivatives Exports
India is recognized as the global leader in castor seed and castor oil production, playing a dominant role in the international castor oil trade. Most of the castor cultivation in India takes place in Gujarat, particularly in regions such as Mehsana, Banas kantha, and Saurashtra/Kutch. Other contributing states include Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan, with key districts like Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar also known for their castor production.
Castor oil is a vegetable oil extracted from castor beans, rich in ricinolein acid, which gives it unique chemical properties. It is a critical raw material in various industries and is widely used in the manufacturing of soaps, lubricants, hydraulic and brake fluids, paints, dyes, coatings, cold-resistant plastics, waxes, and polishes. Its versatility and renewability make it an important commodity in both industrial and specialty chemical applications.

Castor Oil Derivatives
Overview
- Castor derivatives are value-added products derived from castor oil through various chemical processes such as hydrogenation, sulfonation, dehydration, and saponification. These derivatives extend the versatility of castor oil and cater to a wide range of industrial applications. Common castor derivatives include Hydrogenated Castor Oil (HCO), 12-Hydroxy Stearic Acid (12-HSA), Sebacic Acid, Ricinolein Acid, Methyl Ricinoleate, Undecylenic Acid, and Polyurethane-grade Polyols. Each of these products has specific functional properties that make them valuable in different sectors.
- These derivatives are used in the production of lubricants, greases, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, plastics, adhesives, coatings, nylons, surfactants, and bio-based polymers. Their renewable and biodegradable nature makes them an increasingly attractive choice for industries seeking sustainable raw materials. India plays a key role in the global supply of castor derivatives, with its integrated castor processing infrastructure and abundant castor seed production.
